About Bunmi Adedayo

Oluwabunmi Omotayo Adetokunbo Adedayo was born on the 5th of January, 1977 in the city of Chicago Illinois, U.S.A to Adekunle Adedayo of Ila Orangun and Olayinka Pamela Adedayo nee Ogunnusi of Ijebu-Ode. He was their only child.

Oluwabunmi was nurtured in a godly home, grew up under strict discipline and was taught the importance of honesty, integrity and hardwork. He attended Corona Primary School Apapa, Lagos from where he proceeded to the Nigerian Navy Secondary School, Ojo Town Lagos for his Senior Secondary School Certificate which he obtained in 1993. In 1996, Oluwabunmi later went back to the United States to further his education. He attended the University of Maryland, Baltimore County where he obtained a Bachelors degree in Biological Sciences in 2001. Oluwabunmi was on his way to becoming a medical doctor but his keen interest in business and entrepreneurship led him to have a change of heart.

He enrolled at the Lagos Business School (Pan African University) where he attended the Chief Executive Programme, during which his business senses became more aroused. He applied and was admitted to the Lagos Business School for the Executive MBA Programme to further hone his business skills. He is an alumnus of the Lagos Business School (Pan Africa University) and also holds a honorary doctorate degree from the Commonwealth University of Belize (Albion College – London Graduate School). Oluwabunmi worked at different places and with different responsibilities. Whilst he was at University of Maryland, Baltimore County, he worked at Aramark Hospitality: Food Services and Facilities Management Company. Bunmi's ardent love for Music and entertainment made him take up a job as an On-Air-Personality/Disc Jockey at University of Maryland, Baltimore County Radio Station for 2 years. The Students, particularly the African American students enjoyed listening to him; this increased the radio station's rating in terms of audience and content. As a result, he was given his own show which he also produced.

Bunmi also worked as a janitor while in school and had taken up other jobs like being a front Office Staff at Burger King and a Sales Assistant at Payless shoe store. Little wonder he was able to identify with everyone regardless of their social strata. Upon graduation, Oluwabunmi worked at MCI - a global business and residential communications company, one of the largest telecommunication companies at that time. He worked as a Customer Service Representative and due to his sound work ethics, he was promoted to a supervisor in very little time. He then proceeded to work as a Credit Analyst at Credit Trust in Baltimore Maryland. His responsibilities included: analyzing corporate and individual credit history, Evaluating applicant's risks, developing financial profiles on clients, financial counseling, to mention a few. All of these had helped formed the bedrock of his sound work ethics.

In 2002, he returned to Nigeria to join the family business, De Tastee Fried Chicken Limited. He started out as the Manager Special Duties. However, before his confirmation, he went through all the rigorous rudiments of the business. He underwent training in the organization's production department working in the kitchen, lobby, and store units. He was a hard worker and possessed an unrivaled passion for the business. He put all his time and energy into the business and performed excellently in his capacity as the Special Duties Manager. Over the years, his dedication, passion and hard work helped him grow through the ranks to become the Executive Director of De Tastee Group, a position he held till he departed.

During his tenure as the Executive Director, the company grew in leaps and bounds in terms of product innovation, brand recognition, branch expansion and business process re-engineering. He made the company a trail blazer and a pace setter in the industry. He took the company to greater heights, winning her many awards such as: Best QSR Company (West African Tourism and Hospitality Awards WATHA winning her Platinum and gold for 3 consecutive years), Best QSR (City People Awards), International Engagement Community Award (Capital Finance International), Best QSR Company (Travellers Award Nigeria), Stewardship Excellence Award (CFP), Diamond Award (Lagos State Government), Enterprise Award (St. Paul International) amongst others. Oluwabunmi Adedayo was the face of the Tastee brand. He was a closet Philanthropist; he was greatly inclined to do whatever was required of him to improve the well-being of human kind. His love for people and his compassion for the plight of others made him get involved with charity. He indeed was a selfless giver; he found joy and fulfilment in making other people happy. All these he did discreetly without attracting undue attention to himself. Oluwabunmi met his beloved heartthrob and devoted wife Oluwayemisi Oluwatoyin Adedayo (nee Iwashokun) in the year 2008 in Lagos, Nigeria. They courted for almost a year and got married on January 5, 2009. He was a proud father of two children, Miss Iyanuoluwayimika Adedayo and Master Jordan Morolaoluwa Adedayo. He greatly loved and cared for his wife and children; he was a devoted father to his children. Oluwabunmi Adedayo was a disciplined business man, a distinguished gentleman, cousin, uncle, husband and Father who touched many lives till he departed.
